长期致力于青少年健康研究，研究主题涵盖了青少年身心发展规律、性与生殖健康、心理健康、健康行为及相关生物学、心理学和社会学影响因素，以及健康干预策略、健康教育与健康促进及干预效果评估等。通过“科学发现-成果应用-政策倡导”，为提升青少年健康水平提供理论支撑与实践解决方案。

在青少年性与生殖健康领域，课题组顺应我国青少年性与生殖健康状况、性教育与生殖健康服务需求及影响因素随着时代的发展不断变化的需要，不断率先开展高质量的科学研究，如小年龄青少年及残障青少年性与生殖健康问题研究等，全面、深入地了解不同特征青少年面临的性与生殖健康风险、性教育与生殖健康服务需求及满足其需求面临的困难和挑战；同时率先在国内开展了青少年性教育与生殖健康服务干预研究，并对不同干预模式的可行性及效果进行了严格、科学的评估，为青少年性教育与相关服务的开展及不同干预模式的推广应用提供了科学依据，推动了青少年性与生殖健康领域的研究和实践不断深入与发展。近年来，在青少年身心健康、健康行为及其他健康领域，课题组基于国家和地方的重大需求、社会热点问题和本领域的前沿问题开展相关影响机制、干预策略和健康促进研究，探索数字化健康促进新模式，开发的中小学生心理卫生管理工具包和生命教育教案在全市中小学推广应用，推动了本市中小学生的心理健康和生命教育实践的发展。在国内外期刊发表论文300余篇，出版专著10部。代表性成果如下：
